Accreditation

All the Bulgarian Universities we represent are member universities of the World Health Organisation (WHO), where it fulfils the role of a collaboration centre for research and training in epidemiology as well as for prevention of cardiovascular and other chronic non-communicable diseases. The study programmes meets university education standards applied in EU countries and graduates are eligible to take the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and the PLAB examination of the General Medical Council in the UK. Graduates of Bulgarian Medical Universities are able to confidently quest a career in any country of their choice as per the world recognition they get by graduation in a world class university and in the case of deciding to practice in a non-EU county they must pass through the assessment procedure of the governing authorities of the respective Ministry of Health in their county’s.

The General Medical Council (GMC) is responsible for providing GMC registration for doctors, required in order to practice medicine in the UK. Please follow the link:

The recognition of degrees of the 1st and the 2nd level (Bachelor and Master) issued by foreign higher education institutions (of Member States or other states except for the states with which there exist a bilateral treaty) falls within the competence of the appropriate higher education institution in Bulgaria which provides the same or similar study programme.

The University is a member of numerous international organisations, such as the European University Association (EUA), Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER), Association of Medical Schools in Europe (AMSE), Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE), Baltic Sea Region University Network (BSRUN), Organisation for PhD Education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in the European System (ORPHEUS), European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE), World Veterinary Association, etc.
